Shanxi Jinju Coal and Electricity Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Jinju Coal and Electricity Company”), located in Jincheng, Shanxi Province, has the largest gas-fired power plant in the world. By extracting gas from underground coal mines to generate electricity, the company not only turns waste into treasure, increases power generation revenue, but more importantly makes coal mine operations safer. Moreover, methane, the component of gas, is the main greenhouse gas, and gas power generation can reduce greenhouse gas emissions from coal mines at the source.
Jinju Coal and Electricity Company is equipped with a total of 97 CAT (Carter) G3520C gas generator sets. For such a large fleet, arranging the top repair, intermediate repair and overhaul of the generator set is a difficult problem for both the customer and the Caterpillar agent Huabei Lei Shing Hong Machinery. Because the number of technicians required for overhaul is large and the time is long, and each unit must complete the overhaul in the shortest time, so as to avoid the subsequent units running beyond the overhaul time.
Caterpillar Remanufacturing provides G3520C engine cylinder head, supercharger, cylinder liner piston connecting rod assembly, oil pump, water pump, oil cooler and other remanufactured parts, helping customers and agents to minimize the overhaul time of each unit may be shortened. In addition, product quality is further improved as the Caterpillar remanufacturing process includes technical upgrades and updates to previous products.
Jinju Coal and Electrochemical Company will use a short cylinder block for the overhaul of the whole machine in 2021. The overhaul of the whole machine that originally took nearly a month was shortened to one week. The shortened downtime has been converted into an increase in customer power generation time and electricity sales revenue, and has contributed to Subsequent unit overhauls bought time. At the same time, coal mine safety operation and greenhouse gas emissions have also been greatly improved.
Caterpillar’s remanufacturing business has flourished for over 45 years. Remanufactured products perform like new, reducing customer total cost of ownership and downtime. Customers only need to spend a part of the cost of purchasing new parts to obtain products with the same performance as new parts, and at the same time, they can reuse raw materials, reduce water consumption, and reduce energy consumption. Starting from the needs of customers, Caterpillar is still innovating continuously and using technology to strengthen its remanufacturing capabilities.
